URL Parser
Break down a URL into its components (protocol, host, path, params) and encode or decode URI values.
About: URL Parser
This URL parser splits an address into protocol, hostname, port, path, query string and fragment, and lists every query parameter with its decoded value. It also encodes or decodes text so you can safely place it in a URL. Use it to read an endless tracking link, check the parameters of an OAuth redirect, or prepare a value containing spaces and special characters. Parsing relies on your browser's standard URL parser.
Features
- Breaks a URL into protocol, hostname, port, path, query string, fragment and username, each one copyable.
- A query parameter table showing each key with its decoded value, repeated keys included.
- Percent-encodes text as a URL component (spaces, accents, &, =, /…).
- Decodes a percent-encoded value, such as caf%C3%A9, back into the original readable text.
- Live parsing as you type, with undo, redo and a clear button.
How to use it
- Pick the Parse, Encode or Decode tab.
- Paste a full URL including its protocol, or the text you want to convert.
- Read the components and parameters in the tables, or take the converted text from the output.
- Copy the value you need with the button next to it.
Questions about usage
The tool expects an absolute URL with a protocol, such as https://example.com/path. An address without a scheme like example.com/page, or a relative path like /page, can't be parsed on its own. Add https:// in front and try again.
Encoding replaces characters that have a meaning in URLs or aren't allowed there (spaces, accents, &, ?, =) with sequences like %20, so they can go inside a parameter. Decoding reverses it. The tool uses JavaScript's encodeURIComponent and decodeURIComponent.
No. Parsing happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Your input is only kept in the page URL, so reloading or reopening the link brings back the same analysis.
