About: ID Generator

This ID generator creates up to 100 UUIDs or NanoIDs at once, ready to paste into a database seed, a fixtures file or your tests. Pick a random UUID v4, a time-ordered UUID v7, a clock-based UUID v1, a URL-safe NanoID, or a random string built from your own alphabet and length. Copy any single ID with a click, or grab the whole list. Generation happens locally in your browser.

Features

  • UUID v4, v7 and v1, with an option to output them in uppercase.
  • NanoID with the URL-safe alphabet (A-Z, a-z, 0-9, _ and -), from 4 to 64 characters long.
  • Custom strings using any alphabet you type and a length from 1 to 128 characters.
  • Generates 1 to 100 IDs at a time and refreshes them automatically whenever a setting changes.
  • Click an ID to copy it, or copy the whole list with one identifier per line.

How to use it

  1. Choose the ID type: UUID v4, v7, v1, NanoID or Custom.
  2. Set the length, alphabet or uppercase option depending on the type.
  3. Adjust the quantity with the slider and the list updates right away.
  4. Click an ID to copy it, or use Copy all to grab the full list.

Questions about usage

A UUID v4 is fully random. A UUID v7 starts with a millisecond timestamp followed by random bits, so IDs created one after another sort in chronological order, which suits indexed primary keys better. The older v1 is also clock-based.

No, everything is generated in your browser. UUIDs come from the uuid library, while NanoIDs and custom strings use the browser's cryptographic random generator (crypto.getRandomValues). No ID is sent or stored anywhere outside your page.

The default is 21 characters, the same as the nanoid library: with 64 possible symbols, the collision risk stays negligible for most uses. You can go down to 4 characters for short codes if you accept more risk, or up to 64.
